The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed forward Max Domi to a one-year contract worth $3 million.

The Domi Family is returning to Toronto.

The Toronto Maple Leafs beefed up their forward corps on Monday, agreeing to terms with forward Max Domi on a one-year contract worth $3 million.

The deal brings Domi back to the city in which his father, Tie, spent the bulk of his NHL career, giving the younger Domi the chance to perhaps become a similar fan-favorite figure.

After bouncing around the league the past few years, Domi seemed to fit in splendidly upon his arrival in Dallas at the trade deadline in 2022-23, racking up 13 points in 19 post-season games with the club while adding some badly needed punch to the Stars' middle six. Despite playing most of the season on a Chicago Blackhawks team in the midst of an aggressive rebuild prior to heading to the Lone Star State, Domi still ultimately topped 20 goals, finishing with an additional 36 assists and 56 points in 80 games while logging just under 18 minutes in average nightly ice time.

There are indeed limits to Domi's game, though.

The 28-year-old is one of the weaker forwards in the NHL in his own end and lacks the ability to kill penalties or contribute meaningfully on the power play. Still, Domi can drive possession at even strength to a serviceable degree and injects a physical element into a Leafs lineup that sorely needs it. His postseason production, especially, will be a welcome addition.

Stay tuned. More signings will continue to trickle in as the off-season progresses.
