As NHL free agency ticks on, here's the latest coverage on Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, Matt Dumba, Zach Parise, Phil Kessel, Tomas Tatar and Max Comtois.
The 2023 NHL UFA market has been pretty much picked clean of its top talent. Nevertheless, a handful of noteworthy players remain.
Patrick Kane is the biggest name still available due to his ongoing recovery from a hip procedure earlier in this off-season. The 34-year-old winger is expected to be ready to play in December, when he'll start fielding contract offers from potential Stanley Cup contenders.
Kane's former Chicago Blackhawks teammate, Jonathan Toews, is also available, but there's no indication he'll continue his playing career. His agency did not include the 35-year-old center's name on its list of free agents sent out to every club at the start of free agency.
Matt Dumba is the top defenseman on the market. We recently noted that the Arizona Coyotes, San Jose Sharks and Vancouver Canucks were mentioned as possible suitors.
Zach Parise's future remains uncertain. The 38-year-old winger tallied 21 goals last season with the New York Islanders but is reportedly mulling retirement.
Following the Vegas Golden Knights Stanley Cup triumph, Phil Kessel told reporters he doesn't intend to retire. However, there's no indication the 35-year-old winger is close to landing with a new club.
Coming off a 20-goal, 48-point performance with the New Jersey Devils, Tomas Tatar is among the few noteworthy scoring forwards still out there. San Jose Hockey Now's Sheng Peng suggested the 32-year-old winger might be a good short-term addition for the rebuilding Sharks.
Peng also mentioned Max Comtois as an option for the Sharks as they pursue devalued assets that still have some upside. The 24-year-old winger is among this summer's youngest UFAs. A native of Longueuil, Que., Comtois recently said he hasn't been contacted by the Montreal Canadiens.
