NHL Releases 2023-24 Regular-Season Schedule
The NHL kicks off the 2023-24 regular season on Tuesday, Oct. 10, with a tripleheader.
The 2023-24 NHL regular season is only 105 days away.
The NHL announced the full schedule for next season, beginning on Tuesday, Oct. 10 with a tripleheader. The Tampa Bay Lightning host the Nashville Predators at 5:30 p.m. ET before the Chicago Blackhawks visit the Pittsburgh Penguins at 8 p.m. ET. After that, the Vegas Golden Knights host their Stanley Cup banner-raising ceremony before taking on the Seattle Kraken at 10:30 p.m. ET.
As a reminder, each team plays 82 games, including two games against a non-conference squad and three matches against teams within the conference but in the other division. Teams either play three or four games against their division rivals.
Here are some key dates in the schedule, subject to change:
Oct. 11: All seven Canadian teams begin their seasons on Wednesday, Oct. 11. The Toronto Maple Leafs face the Montreal Canadiens, and the Ottawa Senators visit the Carolina Hurricanes. Then, it's the Winnipeg Jets taking on the Calgary Flames and the Edmonton Oilers visiting the Vancouver Canucks.
Oct. 21: The Arizona Coyotes and Blackhawks are the final two teams to host their home openers.
Oct. 24: All 32 NHL teams are in action for the first time in the season. That only happened once in 2022-23. It starts at 6 p.m. ET between Toronto and the Washington Capitals. After the Anaheim Ducks and Columbus Blue Jackets drop the puck at 6:30 p.m. ET, each game afterward is scheduled to start at 15-minute increments, ending with the Philadelphia Flyers in Vegas at 11 p.m. ET.
Oct. 29: The Edmonton Oilers host the Calgary Flames outdoors at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton for the 2023 NHL Heritage Classic.
Nov. 16 to 19: The Detroit Red Wings, Minnesota Wild, Senators and Maple Leafs head to Sweden for the 2023 NHL Global Series in Stockholm. Each team will play twice at Avicii Arena.
Dec. 23: We get to see the rematch of the 2023 Stanley Cup final when the Florida Panthers host the Golden Knights. They'll also duel in Vegas on Jan. 4, 2024.
Jan. 1, 2024: The Kraken and Golden Knights face off at T-Mobile Park, home of the MLB's Seattle Mariners, in the 2024 NHL Winter Classic.
Feb. 1 to 4, 2024: The regular season pauses during NHL all-star weekend in Toronto. Feb. 2 is the skills competition, while the game takes place the following day.
Feb. 17 and 18, 2024: It's the 2024 NHL Stadium Series at MetLife Stadium, home of the NFL's New York Jets and New York Giants. The New Jersey Devils host the Philadelphia Flyers on the 17th, while the Rangers and Islanders duel on the 18th.
April 18, 2024: The regular season is scheduled to conclude on this day.
