Changing the format was discussed at the board of governors meeting today in Dallas. Florida Panthers general manager Jacques Martin says there isn't enough support for a new format.

One option discussed was returning to the format the league had before the lockout, with six divisional games and 18 games against the other conference.

The current unbalanced schedule came into effect after the lockout and features eight divisional games and only 10 games in total against the other conference.

Some teams are unhappy with that because it prevents them from getting annual visits from stars like Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin.
