The countdown continues to the NHL's regular season and the deadline to set season-opening rosters.
Seven NHL teams placed a total of 17 players on waivers on Thursday. They're now available for the rest of the league to claim in the next 24 hours.
Here's the latest list, according to team announcements and PuckPedia:
Hunt has 230 NHL games under his belt since 2017-18, splitting last season between the Flames and AHL Calgary Wranglers. The left winger played a depth role whenever he was in the NHL, averaging 11:08 of ice time and recording three goals and eight points in 28 games.
Abruzzese, 25, was one of the Toronto Marlies' top scorers last season, notching 36 assists and 52 points in 71 games. He also put up two assists in two games for the Maple Leafs in 2022-23, averaging just under nine minutes per game. With Pontus Holmberg, David Kampf and Ryan Reaves staying in the NHL lineup for now, and with Steven Lorentz on a tryout, Abruzzese will have to wait some more to get a longer look in the NHL.
Toninato played one full season with the Jets in 2021-22, recording 14 points in 77 games. Since then, the 30-year-old's spent the last two seasons primarily with the Manitoba Moose. In 15 NHL games last season, he had four assists and five points, including a four-game points streak from Dec. 27, 2023, to Jan. 2.
All 12 players placed on waivers on Wednesday cleared, including two veteran netminders in Philadelphia's Cal Petersen and Carolina's Spencer Martin.
