Ottawa Senators re-sign Luke Richardson; send five players to AHL

OTTAWA - Ottawa Senators re-signed defenceman Luke Richardson to a one-year, two-way contact, the club announced Saturday.

The Ottawa native first signed with the Senators in August 2007, recording two goals, seven assists and 41 penalty minutes in 76 games during the 2007-08 campaign.

The club also sent five players to their American Hockey League affiliate in Binghamton Saturday, including winger Brad Isbister and defenceman Brendan Bell.

The team also assigned forwards Matt Carkner, Greg Mauldin and Peter Regin.

The team now has 25 players on its roster, including three goalies, eight defencemen and 14 forwards.

The Senators leave for Sweden on Sunday to continue their training camp in Gothenburg.

They open the regular season against Pittsburgh in Stockholm on Saturday.
