The NCAA and USA Hockey have announced the 10 finalists for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, given to the best player in NCAA women's hockey.
The finalists are: Skylar Fontaine, Northeastern (D, Grad student); Aerin Frankel, Northeastern (G, Grad student); Elizabeth Giguere, Minnesota Duluth (F, Fifth-year senior); Taylor Heise, Minnesota (F, Senior); Gabbie Hughes, Minnesota Duluth (F, Senior); Sophie Jacques, Ohio State (D, Senior); Alina Mueller, Northeastern (F, Senior); Casey O'Brien, Wisconsin (F, Sophomore); Theresa Schafzahl, Vermont (F, Senior); and Daryl Watts, Wisconsin (F, Fifth-year senior).
Three previous winners are back looking for another trophy, with Watts winning it in 2018, Giguere in 2020 and Frankel most recently in 2021. Mueller has been a finalist three times, with Watts also finishing as a runner-up twice.
Heise is first in NCAA scoring with 28 goals and 64 points in 36 games.
The top three finalists will be announced on March 17, with the presentation for the winner taking place on March 26.
