The Pittsburgh Penguins continue their busy first day of free agency by signing Lars Eller.
Pittsburgh signed the 34-year-old center for two years at a $2.45-million annual cap hit on Saturday.
Eller had 10 goals and 23 points in 84 games this season split between the Washington Capitals and Colorado Avalanche. It was a step down from his past years, but he improved slightly with the Avalanche after being acquired on March 1.
The Penguins and president of hockey operations Kyle Dubas have had an ultra-busy day, including re-signing goaltender Tristan Jarry for five years at $5.375 million per season and bringing in defenseman Ryan Graves for six years at $4.5 million per campaign. They also signed Noel Acciari for three years and Matt Nieto for two years.
It's another big push by the Penguins to remain competitive in the NHL while Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang are on the team.
