The PHF Players' Association announced that they have terminated their relationship with executive director Alex Sinatra less than one month after appointing her to the role.
The Premier Hockey Federation Players Association announced on Friday evening that they have decided to part ways with executive director Alex Sinatra, effective immediately.
“After careful consideration, the Players’ Association of the PHF has agreed to terminate our relationship with Alex Sinatra as Executive Director effective immediately. We wish her the best moving forward,” said the Players' Association in a statement.
“The PHF Players’ Association is committed to the advancement of the PHF and growing the professional game. As players, we are dedicated to performing and representing ourselves and our teammates at the highest level on and off the ice for our fans, owners, and stakeholders.”
An official reason for the change in leadership has not been given at this time.
Sinatra had been in the executive director role for less than a month before today's announcement. Her hiring on Jan. 3 was hailed as a new era of leadership for the players of the PHF, with Sinatra's experience as in-house counsel for multiple sports teams and corporate entities, and her past contributions to USA Today's NFL Wire showcasing her versatility as a sports professional.
“I am honored to be selected by the players of the PHF to serve as their Executive Director of the Players’ Association,” said Sinatra in the official statement announcing her appointment back on Jan. 3.
“The grit, determination, and work ethic of these players is inspiring. They are champions on and off the ice and I couldn’t be more proud to serve them. We want to change the sport of hockey for the better and continue to create opportunities for both current and future players.”
Now, 25 days later, Sinatra is no longer in the role. And the Players' Association will soon begin the search for their second executive director in as many months.
