Phoenix Coyotes recall young defenceman Keith Yandle from AHL

Ballard suffered a fracture in his right hand during the Coyotes' 5-1 loss in Columbus on Monday and is expected to be out a month.

Yandle, named the top defenceman in the CHL while playing for Moncton last year, had two assists in two games with San Antonio this season.

The Boston native was selected by the Coyotes in the fourth round of the 2005 NHL entry draft and will join Phoenix in time for its game against the Detroit on Wednesday.
