The New York Rangers are one step closer to rounding out their roster after agreeing to terms with K'Andre Miller on a two-year contract worth $3.872 per season on Tuesday.

It was truly a breakout year for the 23-year-old, who's taken steps forward in every year of his three-season NHL career so far. He went from 12 points in 53 games in 2020-21 to 20 points in 82 games in his sophomore campaign.

In 2022-23, Miller set career highs in goals (nine), assists (34) and points (43) in 79 games. He also averaged the second-most minutes on ice among Rangers defensemen, with 21:57 minutes per game.

The St. Paul, Minn., native also ranked second on the Rangers and fifth among all NHL defensemen for takeaways, with 61.

Miller also went out and became the first defenseman in the Rangers' 96 seasons of history to record four points in a period during a 7-0 shellacking of the Nashville Predators on March 19.

Since being drafted 22nd overall by the Rangers in the 2018 draft, Miller has frequently shown signs of being a future star blueliner in the NHL. The left-shot defenseman and captain Jacob Trouba logged more minutes as a defensive pair than any other pairing on the team, but Miller also saw offensive success in limited minutes with Adam Fox, according to naturalstattrick.com.

The move now brings the Rangers to 21 signed players on their active roster with about $3 million in cap space, according to PuckPedia. They still have forward Alexis Lafreniere as an RFA.
