There was no way we were putting Ilya Kovalchuk on this monument. It's for Winnipeg Jets and only Winnipeg Jets and we went with spectacular over workmanlike, says Ken Campbell

Let's get one thing straight. The Winnipeg Jets that played in the NHL between 1979 and 1996 belong to Winnipeg, no matter how much the NHL tries to convince us otherwise. The mess that is the Arizona Coyotes may still own the franchise records, but the memories belong to the good people of Winnipeg.

The same way Ilya Kovalchuk is technically the franchise's goals leader because he played for the Atlanta Thrashers, the guy probably couldn't locate Winnipeg on a map.

With that in mind, of course Dale Hawerchuk is the first player to go up there, considering he has a statue in front of the Canada Life Centre, or whatever they're calling it these days. With the next two, we decided to go with spectacular over workmanlike, which might cause some disagreement.

The one caveat on our Mount Rushmores is that at least one player must be a current team member. We're pretty sure you can guess who.
