Julien BriseBois and Kyle Dubas bring valuable expertise and experience from their NHL teams to Team Canada's management group for the 4 Nations Face-Off and Olympics.
Julien BriseBoisHockey Canada announced the addition of Julien BriseBois and Kyle Dubas to Team Canada's management group for the upcoming 4 Nations Face-Off and 2026 Olympics earlier on Tuesday.
BriseBois has been the Tampa Bay Lightning's GM for the past six seasons. He is set to make his international debut with Canada at the 4 Nations Face-Off, where he will serve as the team's assistant GM.
Dubas, who is entering his second year as the Pittsburgh Penguins' GM, recently represented Team Canada as the associate GM at the 2024 IIHF World Championship. His role at the 4 Nations Face-Off is the director of player personnel.
Dubas and BriseBois will be joining Don Sweeney of the Boston Bruins and Jill Nill of the Dallas Stars on the 4 Nations Face-Off management group.
“Jim and I are thrilled to have Julien and Kyle join our management group for the 4 Nations Face-Off and to work alongside them as we prepare for the Olympics,” Sweeney said in a news release. “Both are successful NHL general managers that bring a wealth of knowledge, many years of experience at the professional level and great leadership skills that will be beneficial to our coaches, support staff and players.”
Dubas and BriseBois, who will also hold the same roles at the 2026 Olympics, bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the management group.
BriseBois has consistently been regarded as one of the top GMs in recent years. He possesses a keen eye for talent and is known for his strategic approach to contracts and deals, such as moving lower-valued draft picks during their competitive years for Brandon Hagel, bringing in 29-year-old Jake Guentzel, signing Brayden Point, Anthony Cirelli and Hagel to long-term deals and more.
He also helped lead the Lightning to back-to-back Cup titles in 2020 and 2021.
Dubas, on the other hand, had successful seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs but could not advance them past the first round more than once. He's currently aiming to keep the Penguins competitive while hanging onto draft picks.
Kyle DubasLike BriseBois, Dubas has a knack for spotting talent, and he also has an advanced analytical eye for the game.
Sometimes, he relies on bringing his connections with him, which is evident when he tends to employ players or staff members from his past, such as those who played for him on the Soo Greyhounds – Michael Bunting, Jack Campbell, Matt Murray. That said, having him as part of a well-rounded group should take advantage of his strengths to identify the right players for each men's national squad.
Including both Dubas and BriseBois on the teams is a significant asset. It brings a blend of distinct hockey minds within the management group, all aimed at one common goal: putting Canada on top of the hockey world.
