    For a goalie who wanted to be healthy and reliable this season, Woll has not gotten off to a good start. It's a good thing the Maple Leafs have goaltending depth out the wazoo.

    Aside from the team's fan base, there's probably nobody more disappointed right now than Toronto Maple Leafs goalie Joseph Woll, the 26-year-old who was looking to be a reliable and healthy No. 1 goalie this season.

    Well, that aspiration went down in Game 1 of the season when Woll had to beg off his scheduled start in Montreal Wednesday night with lower-body tightness, likely in his back. 

    This is the same Joseph Woll who couldn't answer the call in Game 7 of the Maple Leafs' first-round series against the Boston Bruins, which they lost in overtime.

    The Leafs have some quality depth at the position, largely thanks to signing Anthony Stolarz in the off-season. But it has to be disappointing to Woll, the organization and the fan base that Toronto's presumptive No. 1 is on the shelf before the puck has even dropped for the season.
