The initial autopsy on Windsor Spitfires captain Mickey Renaud has been completed and results were released to the family Tuesday, according to a Toronto Star report.

The report suggests the full extent of why the 19-year-old collapsed and died unexpectedly at his parents house in Tecumseh, Ont., Monday may not be known for months. Tuesday's autopsy was the first in a series of test that will be conducted over the following months to determine the cause of Renaud's death.

The preliminary reports will not be released to the public.

A Calgary Flames draft pick, Renaud had 20 goals and 41 points in in 56 games this season.
