The Seattle Kraken locked in Adam Larsson to a four-year contract extension, the team announced Tuesday.
Larsson's new deal kicks in next summer and carries a $5.25-million cap hit. He's currently finishing up a four-year contract he signed with Seattle in July 2021 that's worth $4 million annually.
The 31-year-old Larsson averaged the second-most time on ice per game among Kraken defensemen last season at 22:57. He recorded four goals and 18 assists in 82 games.
He is one of Seattle's most physical players, ranking fourth on the squad in hits, with 162, and second in blocked shots, with 151. Both metrics rank in the top 40 among all NHL defensemen.
Larsson now becomes one of three Kraken blueliners signed through the 2027 season, joining 27-year-old Vince Dunn and newly signed Brandon Montour, who's signed through 2031.
The Skelleftea, Sweden, native enters his 14th NHL season after the New Jersey Devils drafted him fourth overall in 2011. He's played 848 games between the Devils, Edmonton Oilers and Kraken, logging 45 goals and 168 assists for 213 points.
