The Ottawa Senators have traded a 2022 third-round draft pick to Vancouver in exchange for defenseman Travis Hamonic.

Hamonic, 31, has seven points in 24 games with the Canucks this season to go along with an assist in two AHL games with Abbotsford.

Hamonic spent the first seven years of his career with the New York Islanders before moving to Calgary in 2017. Hamonic spent three years patrolling Calgary's blueline before a two-year stint in Vancouver.

Hamonic gives the Senators some further defensive depth with an extra year on his contract at $3 million.
