    Debate whether or not Weber should have been a first-ballot Hall of Famer, but the fact he's under contract isn't a factor. It wasn't with Pronger, and it won't with Price in 2025.

    It's a strange world indeed when Shea Weber is a first-ballot Hall of Famer, while Alex Mogilny has waited 15 years to be included among hockey's immortals.

    The debate is definitely a worthy one to have. A lot of people would have him borderline, others insist he belongs. But what should not be subject to debate is whether or not he should have been eligible, despite the fact that he still has two years remaining on his NHL contract.

    Weber hasn't played in three years and will never play again. There is a precedent for this, and it will again be an issue next year if former Montreal Canadiens superstar Carey Price is inducted.
