We all know athletes put their bodies on the line every game, but Cedric Paquette went above and beyond to stop the Red Wings from scoring an empty net goal on Saturday and may miss some action because of it.

Down 3-0 late in the third period, Paquette was chasing down Red Wing's winger Justin Abdelkader, who was looking to extend Detroit’s lead. Right before Abdelkader was able to poke the puck in the empty net, Paquette swept the puck just wide of the goal before awkwardly going into the net hard. Paquette remained down for several minutes before he was helped off the ice without putting any weight on his left leg.

It was Paquette’s second game back with the Lightning after missing six games with an upper body injury. The 21-year-old center has scored 12 goals and 19 points in 58 games for the Lightning so far this season.
