Teemu Selanne entered a prestigious NHL 40-40 club, though it's one he would probably have rather not joined.

The 43-year-old Finn was providing support in the corner for Emerson Etem in Tuesday night's game against Philadelphia, when Luke Schenn's stick inadvertently struck him in the face. Selanne had to immediately leave the game and had to have 40 stitches to fix the damage.

According to the Ducks, Selanne also lost several teeth in the incident. He will return home to have oral surgery today. (I can hear that horrible sound of a dentist's drill now.)

He is expected to miss up to two weeks, so if you're a fan in Boston, Buffalo or New York and were looking forward to seeing Selanne one last time, blame Schenn. Or Etem. Just blame someone because that's a shame.
