A new generation of Mighty Ducks are going to be taking the ice next season. The Anaheim Ducks will reportedly unveil a third jersey bearing the old Mighty Ducks crest in time for the upcoming season. The jersey will be worn for the first time on Oct. 16 against the Colorado Avalanche.
Sometimes you just have to give the people what they want. And it’s hard to deny fans league-wide want to see the return of the classic Anaheim Mighty Ducks logo, so that’s exactly what fans are going to get. The Ducks announced Monday that they would be unveiling a new third jersey this coming season and that it would be worn for the first time on Oct. 16 when Anaheim faces off against the Colorado Avalanche. With the announcement made, it didn’t take long before Icethetics’ Chris Smith had the dirt on the new threads.
According to Icethetics, the Ducks new jersey will bring back the old fan-favorite logo, with the crest popping off the front of a bright orange sweater. Take a look:

Maybe this means Anaheim, whose webbed ‘D’ logo isn’t nearly as beloved as the Mighty Ducks crest, will start considering making the change back to the iconic logo. The Buffalo Sabres re-introduced their classic logo as an alternate before making it a primary mark, so maybe the Ducks will do the same. The updated Mighty Ducks logo actually made it's reappearance in 2010-11 as part of a shoulder patch, so that it's being brought back in this capacity isn't actually too shocking. An interesting note from Smith is the emergence of orange as a primary color. “Orange is almost as big this year as yellow was last year,” Smith wrote in addition to posting the Ducks’ new sweaters. “The Oilers revealed an orange throwback jersey at the draft.” While the jerseys aren’t quite the jade and eggplant jerseys of the original Mighty Ducks, the new uniforms are certainly a nice piece of nostalgia that fans will be excited to see. And Ducks faithful will have ample opportunity to see the jersey live thanks to a 12-game, “Third Jersey mini-plan,” of tickets, which includes five contests in which the Ducks will wear the pseudo-throwback threads.
