When will the NHL wake up and make a regulation win worth three points?

As of Nov. 28 there is a four-point difference between sixth place in the Eastern Conference and 14th place. In the West, there are five points separating fourth and 14th place.

Why the log jam?

The shootout, of course. On too many nights, two-point games yield three points - skewing the standings.

Three points in regulation - do it.
