Trevor Pilling named new executive producer of CBC's Hockey Night in Canada

TORONTO - Trevor Pilling is the new executive producer of CBC's Hockey Night in Canada, replacing Sherali Najak in the role.

Najak returns as senior producer responsible for live production in the show's mobile broadcast truck as part of the shuffle announced Friday.

Pilling most recently served as executive producer for both the CBC's coverage of the World Cup in South Africa and the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

He has been with the CBC since 1994 and CBC Sports since 1997, climbing the ranks to executive producer over the course of five Grey Cup games and six consecutive Olympics.

He has seven Gemini Award nominations and a win for best live sporting event (Beijing Games).

"It's hard to top an experience like the World Cup," Pilling said in a release. "It's ... an incredible ride from the beginning of the season right through the playoffs. I can't wait to be part of it."

Najak has been part of Hockey Night in Canada in a senior role for more than 15 years.
