With the opening ceremony just days away, Team Canada named women's national hockey team captain Marie-Philip Poulin as one of the nation's flag bearers alongside short-track speedskater Charles Hamelin. Poulin was an obvious choice for this illustrious honor. The 30-year-old forward is one of the greatest hockey players in Canadian history, period, having helped lead the women's national team to two Olympic gold medals and two World Championship gold medals in the twelve times she's represented Canada on the international stage, along with one Olympic silver medal, seven World Championship silver medals, and two U-18 silver medals, as well. Frankly, Poulin's numbers speak for themself. In 59 games of international play, Poulin has racked up a whopping 73 points, including 35 goals, with an Olympic resume that features 18 points in 15 games, too. If there were another athlete more deserving of carrying the flag for Canada this year, they have not been found yet.
