Campbell signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Red Wings on July 1 after the Edmonton Oilers bought out the remainder of his five-year, $25-million deal signed in July 2022. The 6-foot-3 netminder from Port Huron, Mich., played five games with the Oilers last season before spending the rest of the campaign with the AHL's Bakersfield Condors. He recorded a 2.63 goals-against average and .918 save percentage in 33 games with them. In 176 career games between the Dallas Stars, Los Angeles Kings, Toronto Maple Leafs and Oilers, Campbell has a 93-52-18 record, a 2.76 GAA, .909 save percentage and 10 shutouts. He played in the 2022 NHL All-Star Game in a 2021-22 campaign that saw him record a career-high 31 wins in 49 games played. Campbell also has 18 games of NHL playoff experience, going 7-8-0 with a 2.28 GAA and .920 SP.
