COLUMBUS, Ohio - Vinny Prospal is staying put with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The veteran forward signed a US $2.5-million, one-year extension with the team on Wednesday.

Prospal was due to become an unrestricted free agent in the summer and was drawing interest with the Feb. 27 trade deadline approaching.

However, he'll remain in Columbus instead with a deal that includes a no-trade clause.

The 36-year-old Czech has nine goals and 33 points in 54 games for the Blue Jackets this season.

In 1,031 career NHL games with Philadelphia, Ottawa, Florida, Tampa, Anaheim, Columbus and the Rangers, he has 236 goals and 531 points.
