Take a team-by-team look at the longest winning streaks for all 31 NHL franchises.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are the only team in NHL history with two winning streaks of 15 games or more. Mario Lemieux led the Pens to an NHL-record 17 consecutive victories in 1992-93, and then Sidney Crosby powered Pitt to 15 straight in 2012-13. Only two other teams in league history have ever won as many as 15 in a row.
Here's a team-by-team look at the all-time longest winning streak for each of the NHL's 31 franchises:
ANAHEIM DUCKS
Longest winning streak: 11 games (2015-16)
The Ducks won 10 in a row in 2013-14, then turned it up one louder a couple years later.
ARIZONA COYOTES
Longest winning streak: 9 games (1984-85)
You've got to go back more than 35 years to when the Coyotes were the original Winnipeg Jets for the franchise's best-ever streak.
BOSTON BRUINS
Longest winning streak: 14 games (1929-30)
The Bruins lead the NHL with eight all-time winning streaks of at least 10 games, maxing out with a 14-gamer in the early days of the NHL. Boston's most recent hot run was a 10-game streak in 2011-12.
BUFFALO SABRES
Longest winning streak: 10 games (three times, most recently 2018-19)
It's pretty hard to believe that the Sabres, coming off an 18-game winless skid, were able to win 10 in a row as recently as two years ago. Here's something that's more believable: despite the streak, Buffalo missed the playoffs anyway.
CALGARY FLAMES
Longest winning streak: 10 games (two times, most recently 2016-17)
The Flames have had two 10-game streaks, including in 1978-79 when the franchise was based in Atlanta. Bob MacMillan had 108 points and Guy Chouinard scored 50 goals that season.
CAROLINA HURRICANES
Longest winning streak: 9 games (three times, most recently 2008-09)
The Hurricanes had not one, but two nine-game win streaks in 2005-06, a season that ended with the franchise's one and only Stanley Cup championship.
CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS
Longest winning streak: 12 games (2015-16)
Coming off three Cups in six years, the Blackhawks reeled off a franchise-best 12-game win streak in 2015-16. No parade at the end of the season, though.
COLORADO AVALANCHE
Longest winning streak: 12 games (1998-99)
In between their Cup wins in 1996 and 2001, the Avs won a dozen in a row in 1998-99. In the playoffs, they lost in the West final in seven games to Dallas, who went on to take the Cup.
COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS
Longest winning streak: 16 games (2016-17)
You might not have been expecting to see the Blue Jackets with the second-longest winning streak in NHL history, but here we are.
DALLAS STARS
Longest winning streak: 7 games (five times, most recently 2019-20)
The Stars are tied with the 2.0 version of the Winnipeg Jets as the franchises with the shortest all-time win streaks. At least the Stars have done it five times.
DETROIT RED WINGS
Longest winning streak: 9 games (seven times, most recently 2007-08)
Despite being an Original Six team that's been led by the legendary likes of Gordie Howe and Steve Yzerman, the Wings have never had a double-digit win streak. They've won nine in a row on seven occasions, though, and the last time it happened – 2007-08 – is also the last time they won the Cup.
EDMONTON OILERS
Longest winning streak: 9 games (2000-01)
For all the winning that Wayne Gretzky and Co. did in the '80s, it was an Oilers team led by Doug Weight, Ryan Smyth and Tommy Salo that set the franchise mark for consecutive wins.
FLORIDA PANTHERS
Longest winning streak: 12 games (2015-16)
The Panthers set a team record with 47 victories and 103 points in 2015-16, keyed by a franchise-best nine-game run.
LOS ANGELES KINGS
Longest winning streak: 9 games (2009-10)
After missing the playoffs six straight years, the Kings returned to the post-season with the help of a franchise-best nine-game win streak in 2009-10.
MINNESOTA WILD
Longest winning streak: 12 games (2016-17)
The Wild set a team record with 49 victories and 106 points in 2016-17, keyed by a franchise-best 12-game run.
MONTREAL CANADIENS
Longest winning streak: 12 games (1967-68)
There's nothing wrong with a 12-game streak, but you'd think a franchise as storied as le bleu, blanc et rouge would've reeled of a run for the ages at some point.
NASHVILLE PREDATORS
Longest winning streak: 10 games (2017-18)
The Predators set a team record with 53 victories and 117 points in 2017-18, keyed by a franchise-best 10-game run.
NEW JERSEY DEVILS
Longest winning streak: 13 games (2000-01)
The Devils won a lucky 13 in a row in 2000-01 but couldn't win their last outing of the season, losing to Ray Bourque and the Avs in Game 7 of the Cup final.
NEW YORK ISLANDERS
Longest winning streak: 15 games (1981-82)
In the middle of their four-peat dynasty in the early '80s, the Isles tied for the third-longest winning streak in NHL history with 15 straight victories.
NEW YORK RANGERS
Longest winning streak: 10 games (two times, most recently 1972-73)
The Rangers have won 10 in a row twice, the first time was 1939-40, which was also the last season they won the Cup before their infamous 54-year drought.
OTTAWA SENATORS
Longest winning streak: 11 games (2009-10)
Look at it this way: the Senators won more games during their franchise-best streak than they won during their entire expansion 1992-93 season, when they played 84 games and went 10-70-4.
PHILADELPHIA FLYERS
Longest winning streak: 13 games (1985-86)
The Flyers set the NHL record with an incredible 35-game undefeated streak (25 wins, 10 ties) in 1979-80, then a few years later rode a 13-game win streak to a franchise-best 53 victories in '85-86.
PITTSBURGH PENGUINS
Longest winning streak: 17 games (1992-93)
Coming off back-to-back Cups in 1991 and '92, Lemieux and the Penguins kept the good times rolling with an NHL-record 17 straight wins in 1992-93. Couldn't get past David Volek and the Isles in Round 2, though.
ST. LOUIS BLUES
Longest winning streak: 11 games (2018-19)
Foreshadowing? The Blues set a team record with 11 straight victories in 2018-19, then went on to the franchise's first-ever Stanley Cup.
SAN JOSE SHARKS

After bottoming out in the late 1990s, the Canucks signalled the dominant decade that was to come with a 10-game streak in '02-03.
VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS

They haven't been around long, but they've been around long enough to best the longest win streaks by Dallas and Winnipeg. Two teams down, 28 to go...
WASHINGTON CAPITALS
Longest winning streak: 14 games (2009-10)
The Capitals set a team record with 121 points in 2009-10, keyed by a franchise-best 14-game run.
