Philadelphia Flyers GM Daniel Briere signalled his club was open for business last week by shipping Ivan Provorov to the Columbus Blue Jackets via the Los Angeles Kings. The move sparked a considerable buzz in the rumor mill over which players Briere might move next.

Topping the list is Carter Hart. Following the Provorov deal, Briere neither confirmed nor denied a rumor that he was working on a trade for the 24-year-old goaltender.

San Jose Hockey Now's Sheng Peng cited Sportsnet's Jeff Marek suggesting the Sharks could be interested in Hart. Peng doubted they could afford the Flyers' asking price after a league source told him it could start with two first-round picks.

Marek's colleague Elliotte Friedman said he'd heard conflicting feedback about Hart's availability. Some told him a trade was “nowhere near close” while others said it was “getting pretty hot.” He subsequently reported that moving Hart wasn't a front-burner issue for the Flyers.

On June 10, The Athletic reported Briere was not only listening on Hart but also forwards Travis Konecny and Scott Laughton.

Friedman mentioned that “many teams” expressed interest in Laughton to Briere during last week's NHL draft combine in Buffalo. He believes the Flyers prefer retaining the 29-year-old forward but could part with him for the right price.

Meanwhile, the Edmonton Journal's Kurt Leavins cited a source claiming the Edmonton Oilers contacted the Flyers regarding Konecny. The Athletic's Charlie O'Connor acknowledged Briere might listen to offers for the 26-year-old winger but doesn't think the Flyers GM is keen to move him.

Friedman also mentioned the Flyers were aggressively exploring Tony DeAngelo's value in the trade market. The inconsistent defenseman might not draw as much interest as Hart, Konecny or Laughton.
