Quinn Hughes and Roman JosiThrough the first half of the season, Quinn Hughes was the prohibitive favorite to win his first Norris Trophy. The Vancouver Canucks captain was a driving force behind the team’s surprise start, and he was making an impact at both ends of the ice.
It seemed as though the race was over. Then Cale Makar started to pick things up and it got a little more interesting.
Well, now it’s at the very least a three-man race, with Roman Josi of the Nashville Predators putting himself front and center in the Norris debate. While Hughes and Makar have evened out, Josi has been sensational, the power train behind the hottest team in the NHL.
Will it be enough to win him the Norris race? Have Hughes and Makar done enough to this point to hold him off? Has Evan Bouchard had the quietest 72-point season in the NHL? What about Noah Dobson? Adam Fox? Victor Hedman?
It will be interesting to see how these players do down the stretch. And what they do might just decide who wins this thing.
