With the All-Star Game being in Las Vegas this year, it's only natural it would feature some star power.
The NHL is pulling out all the stops to make this year's event as star-studded as ever, with the league announcing that actor Wyatt Russell, and former goaltender Manon Rheaume will serve as celebrity netminders for the Adidas Breakaway Challenge during the All-Star skills showcase on Friday night.
Russell and Rheaume will attempt to stop breakaway attempts from multiple players in attendance, with the winner taking home a cheque for $30,000 from DraftKings.
Russell is one of the more intriguing young talents in Hollywood. The son of big-screen legend Kurt Russell, Wyatt has compiled quite the filmography under his belt thus far, with roles in prestige television series such as Netflix's "Black Mirror" and Marvel's "Falcon and the Winter Soldier", while also showing his hockey chops as the primary antagonist in Goon: Last of the Enforcers.
It makes sense that Russell would gravitate towards a hockey-centric role, as the 35-year-old played at the NCAA level for the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
In the net at the other end of the rink will be none other than Manon Rheaume, one of hockey's premier trailblazers as the first woman to ever play in an NHL game. Rheaume appeared in two preseason games for the Tampa Bay Lightning in 1992 and 1993, with those cups of NHL coffee laying the groundwork for a tremendous professional career. Rheaume's international resume is littered with accolades throughout her many years in net, the most notable of which being the silver medal she earned with Canada at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan.
It looks as if this year's All-Star Game is shaping up to be one to remember.
