Anaheim wants to maintain roster flexibility for the future.

One of the biggest rumors across the Anaheim Ducks offseason has been whether or not long-time goalie John Gibson would return to the team next season. There have been conflicting reports about his desire to remain in Anaheim due to his want to be with a winning team. The Ducks should be much better than they were last season, but they are still in rebuilding mode. Gibson doesn’t really fit the timeline for Anaheim, so it would make sense to cut ties at some point. But for now, he remains the Ducks goaltender…we think. Nothing is set in stone, but this is one of those cases where no news means good news.

In other Ducks-related news, new head coach Greg Cronin isn’t playing to not make the playoffs next season. The team’s pipeline was ranked first overall in the entire NHL, and General Manager Pat Verbeek wants to maintain roster flexibility going forward.
