Derek Lee reports from the Ducks' Sunday afternoon practice.
IRVINE, Calif. - As the Ducks prepare to embark on a four-game road trip to the East Coast, they took the ice once again on Sunday ahead of a travel day tomorrow.
John Gibson returned to practice after missing out yesterday. He left Friday's game against the Oilers with a lower-body injury.
Alex Killorn also took part in practice for the first time since his arthroscopic knee surgery a couple of weeks ago. The veteran had skated with the team last week but did not participate in practice.
Today's practice lines:
It's unknown at this time whether Killorn will travel with the team on the upcoming road trip, but he does appear close to making a return.
This is the first time we've seen Pavel Mintyukov on a regular pair since he began practicing again and he was reunited with his usual defensive partner Ilya Lyubushkin. There is a good chance he could make his return to the lineup on Tuesday against Montreal.
With Mintyukov and Lyubushkin back together, Jackson LaCombe moved up to play alongside Cam Fowler, a defensive pairing that has also been a frequent sight this season.
One of the power play units also saw some tweaks with the recent returns of Max Jones and Mason McTavish and the expected return of Mintyukov. All three players were on a power play unit with Troy Terry and Leo Carlsson while the more veteran-heavy unit remained intact:
Jones
Terry-McTavish-Carlsson
Mintyukov
Silfverberg
Strome-Henrique-Vatrano
Fowler
Jones saw time on that same power-play unit on Friday against the Oilers while McTavish filled the role that Isac Lundeström was placed in on Friday.
