An awesome opportunity for the former Duck!
The sports world is becoming increasingly digital as the years go on. Of course, the actual games are still played in person, but access to different forms of content and broadcasts has allowed sports to grow even larger. It’s one of the benefits of the digital age because the content is essentially available 24/7 for people.
The NHL is no different and uses this to help expand its own brand. Many teams have found multiple ways to bring their games and other forms of media to fans all around the world.
For the Anaheim Ducks, they launched their own 24/7 audio resources for everything relating to the team. It’s called Ducks Stream, and it provides fans with all sorts of content throughout the season and into the off-season.
The team announced on Thursday that it would be bringing former Duck Emerson Etem back as a color analyst for all game broadcasts on Ducks Stream. Etem was a fan favorite during a stint in Anaheim, and this is a really cool thing that the Ducks are doing.
Etem will join the audio booth for all preseason, regular season, and postseason games hosted on the stream. He will also create different content for the channel as well.
"There are so many pieces to this puzzle on how I got here, so many people within the Ducks organization to thank, so I want to thank the Anaheim Ducks as a whole for this opportunity," said Etem. "I'm going to come in with a bang, connect with the fans on a daily basis and help the Anaheim Ducks reach new heights."
He spent three seasons with the Ducks after being taken by Anaheim in the first round of the 2010 NHL Draft. The Southern California native became the highest-drafted So Cal-born player in Anaheim history.
This is a very cool opportunity for Etem, and we wish him all the best in his new role going forward.
