Utah should consider signing Jake DeBrusk if he hits the open market this off-season. Firstly, it is the most talked-about point when mentioning Utah’s new hockey franchise.

The word around the team is that they are preparing to spend this off-season making their team as competitive as possible.

DeBrusk brings a valuable combination of offensive skill and maturity to a team, traits that would enhance the team's scoring depth and overall competitiveness.

With Utah taking over the Arizona Coyotes, they will want a mix of players that they are bringing to Utah and newly acquired members of the organization. If they want to be aggressive and attempt to even make the playoffs next season, they will need to score.

DeBrusk can provide that and potentially a bit more than in past seasons with Boston due to the lack of scrutiny he will receive.

His playoff production and ability to succeed in high-pressure situations should also be taken into consideration when looking at signing him.

At 27 years old, DeBrusk offers long-term potential and room for growth. Bringing him to a brand new organization has its perks and excitement. There will likely be a lot of players inquiring about the potential of playing in Utah for their inaugural season.

In terms of contract and asking price, it is not much of a worry for Utah since they have tons of cap space.

The AAV range that DeBrusk will probably be looking for will be in the neighbourhood of $5.5–$6.5 million over four to five seasons.

Utah can easily afford that and will happily offer him that type of deal to improve their hockey club.
