Former Coyotes defenseman Jakob Chychrun is reportedly likely to remain with the Senators at least for the remainder of the season.

Despite some speculation that former Arizona Coyotes defenseman Jakob Chychrun could be on the move come trade deadline time, the Ottawa Senators are most likely to hold on to him.
“The reality of the situation in Ottawa really hasn’t changed specific to Chychrun,” Darren Dreger said on TSN’s Insider Trading. “There is no rush, there is no sense of contractual urgency to trade this guy. He is a valued piece of the organization…”

“Is it possible that Jakob Chychrun gets traded before the deadline or at the deadline, yes it’s possible, but it’s unlikely. What’s more likely is they revisit in the offseason.”
The Coyotes traded Chychrun to the Senators on March 1, 2023, in a deal that included multiple draft picks.
Chychrun played 373 games in Arizona where he tallied 60 goals 110 assists and 170 points while being one of the cornerstone pieces of the organization for many years.
Since his arrival to Ottawa, the Senators have still failed to make any real noise in the Eastern Conference and are en route to miss the playoffs once again.
Chychrun still has another year on his contract after this one so like Dreger said, the urgency to trade him is not there at the moment and being just 25-years-old, he fits the team’s current rebuilding plan.
In 58 games this year, Chychrun has nine goals, 22 assists and 31 points. He also averages 22:34 minutes of ice time per game, the third most of all Senators’ players.
