Former Arizona Coyotes defenseman Jakob Chychrun may not be a member of the Ottawa Senators for much longer.
According to Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia, Senators general manager Steve Staios has been listening to interest on Chychrun.
The Senators are currently last place in the Eastern Conference standings, so it makes sense why they would be willing to shop the 25-year-old.
Chychrun was one of the cornerstones in the Coyotes organization for seven seasons. He played 373 games in Arizona where he tallied 60 goals 110 assists and 170 points.
His tenure in the Valley came to its breaking point once he requested a trade prior to the start of the 2022-23 season. Chychrun was ultimately traded on March 1, 2023, to the Senators in a deal that included multiple draft picks.
In 39 games with the Senators this season, Chychrun has 7 goals, 19 assists and 26 points while recording 22:34 minutes pergame.
It doesn't seem like a reunion between Chychrun and the Coyotes would be likely just based on how everything unfolded between the two sides, but with the Senators at the bottom of the standings, he could be traded to a playoff contending team closer to the trade deadline.
The Senators traded a lot to get Chychrun, but the move has not translated into wins and Ottawa once again finds themselves in a peculiar spot with a ton of talented players yet they still are unable to make a playoff push.
It will be interesting to see what happens with Chychrun in the coming weeks as the March 8 trade deadline approaches.
