Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports - Golden Knights' HC Apologizes to Coyotes

While the Stanley Cup Final is set to begin on June 3 between the Vegas Golden Knights and Florida Panthers, the Arizona Coyotes continue to make headlines.

Following Vegas’s 4-2 Game 5 loss to the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference Final, Golden Knights’ head coach Bruce Cassidy perceived to throw some shade at the Coyotes while describing how his team performed.

“We had 24 giveaways. I’m not sure you’re beating the Arizona Coyotes in January with 24 giveaways,” Cassidy said after Game 5. “No disrespect to Arizona, but it’s not the right way to play.”

Cassidy was clearly frustrated as Vegas gave up three unanswered goals failing to punch their ticket to the Stanley Cup Final. However, the Golden Knights bounced back in Game 6 beating Dallas 6-0.

Cooler heads always prevail. Cassidy proved that on Wednesday apologizing to the Coyotes for his previous comments.

“It was disrespectful," Cassidy said via NHL.com’s Nick Cotsonika. "It was a dumb thing to say about puck management, to bring another team in.”

The Coyotes are an easy target to pick on. The team has had a losing record over the past nine seasons and have only made the playoffs once through the past 11 seasons. During the 2022-23 campaign, the Coyotes finished with a 28-40-14 record which placed them seventh in the Central Division only ahead of the Chicago Blackhawks.

The only way for Arizona to gain the respect amongst the rest of the NHL is to start winning more hockey games.
