Things are going terribly for the Boston Bruins right now. They lost their fifth straight game against the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night and now have a 20-18-5 record.
While the Bruins remain third place in the Atlantic Division standings, the Tampa Bay Lightning are only one point behind them and have played five fewer games. The Ottawa Senators and Montreal Canadiens are also just four points behind the Bruins and have each played fewer games. Thus, the Bruins are far from being in a good place.
One of the Bruins' biggest issues this season has been their poor offense. They are in need of another top-six forward, and it appears that they have a notable one on their radar.
According to The Fourth Period, the Bruins are one of the teams currently linked to New York Islanders forward Brock Nelson.

Nelson, 33, would undoubtedly have the potential to provide the Bruins' offense with a major boost if acquired. In 40 games this season, he has 10 goals to go along with 21 points. Overall, he is having a decent year on a struggling Islanders club, but he is capable of producing much more when playing at his best. This is because he scored at least 34 goals in each of the last three seasons and had a career-high 75 points in 2022-23.
If the Bruins acquired Nelson, he would give them another top-six center and option for their power play. It will be intriguing to see if their interest in Nelson leads to anything from here.
