It was another terrible night for the Bruins.

It was another terrible night for the Bruins.

The Boston Bruins suffered an ugly 4-0 loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night (Jan. 7). With this, they now have a 20-17-5 record and have lost five straight games.

Let's go over two main takeaways from the Bruins' brutal loss to the Oilers now.

    Bruins' Offense Was Non-Existent

The Bruins played some of their worst hockey of the season during the first and second periods of this contest against the Oilers. They recorded just four shots in the first period, while the Oilers had 14, including a goal. The Bruins then had only eight shots in the second, while the Oilers had two goals on 15 shots.

While the Bruins had 14 shots in the third period and created more chances, it was simply far too late for them to make this into a game.

Jeremy Swayman Was Not The Problem

While the Bruins played a terrible game, Jeremy Swayman did his best to try to keep the Original Six club in it. In fact, he had a solid night, saving 34 out of 37 shots, which equates to a .919 save percentage.

While Swayman did not record a shutout like Stuart Skinner, he did well, especially with all of the pressure he faced.
