The Bruins have been named a dark horse team to watch for this Canucks star.

The Bruins have been named a dark horse team to watch for this Canucks star.

During an appearance on Sports on Prime Canada, NHL insider Frank Seravalli was asked to name a dark horse team in the J.T. Miller sweepstakes. Seravalli then picked the Boston Bruins as his choice.

"I haven't heard a lot of people talking about the Boston Bruins [in the Miller sweepstakes], and their need for a top-end center has been well-documented," Seravalli said. "We've also heard Cam Neely, their President of Hockey Operations, hint at the idea that, 'hey, we might have to rejig some things here based on the way that this season has played out.'"

Seravalli also added that he believes the Bruins have Miller on their radar.

"I do believe that the Boston Bruins have kept very close tabs on the Miller situation with the Vancouver Canucks," Seravalli said. "I would term them as a team lurking in the weeds right now to try and monitor those prices, and wouldn't be surprised if this continues to linger on closer to the March 7 deadline. Even as much as Vancouver seems motivated and Miller seems ready to go, they're a team that could remain in the mix."

With the Bruins needing a first-line center badly, it is understandable if Miller is on their radar. If acquired, he would be a massive addition to the Bruins' lineup, as he is a legitimate star.

Miller, 31, is having a solid season, considering all the drama that is happening with the Canucks right now. In 37 games, the 2011 first-round pick has eight goals, 33 points, and 83 hits. This is after he had 37 goals, 103 points, and 217 hits in 81 games this past season with Vancouver.

With numbers like these, Miller would be a significant addition to both the Bruins' top six and power play. In addition, he would provide their roster with far more grit, which is never bad.

The Bruins would need to get creative to acquire Miller, though. Besides having plenty of trade value, he also has an $8 million cap hit until the end of the 2029-30.

Nevertheless, we will need to wait and see if the Bruins make a big push for Miller leading up to the deadline from here.
