The war of words and narrative about officiating is part of the playoffs, and Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff insinuated that Montreal Canadiens players were going down too easily after the 3-2 Buffalo victory in Game 4, in which the Habs had seven power plays.

On a podcast with TVA's Tony Marinaro, TSN's Craig Button offered the opinion that Ruff's reputation has been to whine and complain about penalties going back to 1999's "No Goal" in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final. Perhaps that is a bad example for Button to cite, since Brett Hull's foot was in the crease, and by league rules at the time, the Cup-clinching goal should not have counted.
