The Buffalo Sabres are in their 56th season and have a storied history. The club has 15 players who have been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, and many others who deserve recognition. Over the next few weeks, we will be looking at players in Sabres history by their jersey number, ranking the top three players to wear that particular number.

The top three who wore #19 in team history are: Derek Smith, Brian Holzinger, and Tim Connolly.

A 10th round pick in 1974, Smith broke in with the Sabres in 1977 and began to play a scoring role two years later. Playing with Tony McKegney and Danny Gare, he scored 20 or more goals in 1980 and 1981 before being dealt to Detroit along with Gare in December, 1981. Holzinger was a Hobey Baker winner in 1995 who scored in double figures in goals for four straight seasons, including 1999 in which the Sabres went to the Stanley Cup Final. Connolly was acquired in the deal that sent Michael Peca to the NY Islanders, and played nearly a decade in Buffalo with long stretches missed due to concussion issues. He scored in double figures in goals in six seasons.
