Nicolas Aube-Kubel played 19 games for the Buffalo Sabres after signing a one-year deal in the summer of 2024. The Cup winner was expected to help provide depth and experience on the fourth line, but he scored only one goal and one assist and was demoted to SHL Rochester before being traded to the NY Rangers for Erik Brannstrom.
