In selecting Daxon Rudolph fourth overall, the Buffalo Sabres made their first top-five pick in the NHL Draft since taking Owen Power first overall in 2021. On this day 12 years ago, at the draft in Philadelphia, the Sabres selected forward Sam Reinhart second overall behind Aaron Ekblad. After six seasons in Buffalo, Reinhart joined Ekblad in Florida and the Panthers, winning Stanley Cups in 2024 and 2025.
