The Buffalo Sabres are in their 56th season and have a storied history. The club has 15 players who have been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, and many others who deserve recognition. Over the next few weeks, we will be looking at players in Sabres history by their jersey number, ranking the top three players to wear that particular number.

Other Sabres Stories

The top three who wore #12 in team history are:  Andre Savard, Ales Kotalik, and Brian Gionta.

Savard was part of the 1976 trade that sent Peter McNab to Boston. In six seasons with Buffalo, he had 130 goals, including a career-high 31 in 1981. Kotalik played his first seven seasons with the Sabres, and scored 114 of his 136 career goals with Buffalo, including three 20+ goal campaigns. Gionta had an excellent career with long stints in New Jersey and Montreal. In three seasons in his late 30’s with the Sabres, he scored over 30 points and in double figures in goals each season.
