The Buffalo Sabres are in their 56th season and have a storied history. The club has 15 players who have been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, and many others who deserve recognition. Over the next few weeks, we will be looking at players in Sabres history by their jersey number, ranking the top three players to wear that particular number.

The top three who wore #21 in team history are: Christian Ruuttu, Drew Stafford, and Kyle Okposo.

Ruuttu played six seasons with Buffalo, scoring 20+ goals in his first two years. He famously was part of a three-way deal with Chicago and Winnipeg that resulted in the Sabres acquiring Hall-of-famer Dominik Hasek. Stafford was a 2004 first round pick who played nine seasons with Buffalo, including their two consecutive Eastern Conference final appearances, and scored a career-best 31 goals in 2011, the last time the Sabres made the playoffs. Okposo was a big free agent signing in 2016. While never matching the offensive totals with the Islanders, the veteran winger battled through injury issues and became a leader for the Sabres, serving as team captain, before being dealt to Florida and winning a Stanley Cup with the Panthers in 2024.
