The Buffalo Sabres are in their 56th season and have a storied history. The club has 15 players who have been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, and many others who deserve recognition. Over the next few weeks, we will be looking at players in Sabres history by their jersey number, ranking the top three players to wear that particular number.
The top three who wore #22 in team history are: Jocelyn Guevremont, Lindy Ruff, and Jack Quinn.
Guevremont was acquired early in the 1974-75 season from Vancouver and was a key part of the defense that helped the Sabres reach the Stanley Cup Final in 1975. The following year, he had a career-year with 52 points (12 goals, 40 assists), and had another two solid seasons before tailing off in 1979 and finishing his career with the NY Rangers. Ruff debuted as a defenseman and quickly was shifted to the wing, and scored in double figures in goals for five straight seasons, and served as team captain until he was dealt to the Rangers in 1989. Quinn was the Sabres first round pick in 2020, and has three seasons of double figures in goals.
