The Buffalo Sabres are in their 56th season and have a storied history. The club has 15 players who have been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, and many others who deserve recognition. Over the next few weeks, we will be looking at players in Sabres history by their jersey number, ranking the top three players to wear that particular number.
The top three who wore #30 in team history are: Gerry Desjardins, Tom Barrasso, Ryan Miller.
Desjardins was added to the Sabres late in the 1974-75 season after leaving the WHA and was the primary starter for the club as they made their run to the Cup Final. He had two great seasons, compiling 60 victories before an eye injury in February 1977 essentially ended his career. Barrasso was a fifth overall pick in 1983 and went from high school to the NHL, winning the Vezina and Calder Trophies as an 18-year-old in 1984. He compiled 124 victories over five-plus seasons before the Hall of Famer was traded to Pittsburgh, where he won two Stanley Cups. Miller holds the franchise record in victories (284) and led the club to a pair of Eastern Conference final appearances in 2006 and 2007.
