The Buffalo Sabres are in their 56th season and have a storied history. The club has 15 players who have been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, and many others who deserve recognition. Over the next few weeks, we will be looking at players in Sabres history by their jersey number, ranking the top three players to wear that particular number.
The top two who wore #35 in team history are: Mika Noronen and Linus Ullmark
Noronen was the Sabres first round pick in 1997 and played two seasons in Finland and two in the AHL before debuting in 2001. After part time work for two years, the big Finn played 35 games in 2003-04, posting an excellent 2.57 GAA and .906 save %, but after the 2004-05 lockout, Ryan Miller jumped past him for the top spot between the pipes, and in 2006, he was traded to Vancouver, where he played only four games before heading back to Europe. Ullmark was a late-round pick in 2012, played in Sweden for three years before coming to North America in 2015, and split time between Rochester and Buffalo the next three seasons. He spent three more seasons with the Sabres as a tandem starter, compiling 41 victories before leaving as a free agent for Boston, where he won a Vezina Trophy in 2023.
