The Buffalo Sabres are in their 56th season and have a storied history. The club has 15 players who have been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, and many others who deserve recognition. Over the next few weeks, we will be looking at players in Sabres history by their jersey number, ranking the top three players to wear that particular number.
The top three who wore #36 in team history are: Matthew Barnaby, Patrick Kaleta, and Noah Ostlund.
Barnaby was part of the Ted Nolan-era Sabres that compiled massive amounts of penalty minutes and grew into a playoff contender with Dominik Hasek between the pipes. The rambunctious forward played six seasons for Buffalo, posting a pair of seasons with double figures in goals, and every season with 100 or more penalty minutes Kaleta was a WNY product who played all 348 of his NHL games over nine seasons with the Sabres as a fourth-line energy forward. Ostlund was Buffalo’s first round pick in 2022, and after parts of two seasons in the AHL has come up and earned a full time spot on the NHL roster, and has 24 points (10 goals, 14 assists) in 52 games as a rookie.
